<\/a><\/p>\nFor 10 years, Jim served as organist and musical director of the highly successful, award-winning rhythm & blues band\u00a0Root Doctor<\/a>\u00a0(1999 – 2009) producing three CDs for the band.<\/p>\n Jim formed the jazz trio organissimo<\/a> in 2000. \u00a0organissimo<\/a>\u00a0has released five critically acclaimed CDs and a DVD in the intervening years.<\/p>\n In 2009 Jim released a very limited edition solo CD dedicated to the memory of his father called\u00a0In Memorandom<\/a>.<\/p>\n Also in 2009, Jim engineered and produced Greg Nagy’s<\/a> debut solo record Walk That Fine Thin Line<\/a>. Nagy’s sophomore released Fell Towards None<\/a> found Jim back in the engineer and producer role. Nagy’s third album, Stranded<\/a>, is\u00a0produced and engineered by Jim as well as featuring his original songs and performances.<\/p>\n From\u00a02010 to 2014, Jim served as the keyboardist and primary background vocalist in\u00a0the touring band for blues singer\u00a0Janiva Magness<\/a>. He\u00a0toured nationally and internationally with that band. He is featured on Ms. Magness’ Alligator Records release Stronger For It<\/a>\u00a0as well as her self-released album Original<\/a>.<\/p>\n “… Jim Alfredson … is a remarkable organist who seamlessly synthesizes several generations of keyboard influences ” ~ Downbeat<\/p><\/blockquote>\n In 2012, Jim successfully crowd-funded the organissimo CD “Dedicated<\/a>“, released in January of 2013. \u00a0In October 2013, Jim released\u00a0his a\u00a0solo project entitled Jim Alfredson’s Dirty Fingers<\/strong>. \u00a0It is a tribute to jazz organ great Big John Patton<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jim’s latest project is called THEO<\/a> and is a progressive rock band performing original material written by Jim. The debut CD The Game Of Ouroboros<\/a> was released in January of 2015 and garnered over 50 positive reviews across respected magazines and music blogs.<\/p>\n When he’s not on the road, Jim lives with his beautiful wife Alison in Lansing, MI. Besides practicing, listening, and performing music, Jim enjoys cooking, home improvement, and spending time with his daughters Zora, Stella, & Scarlett. Jim is also a\u00a0piano tuner \/ technician<\/a>\u00a0in the Lansing area.<\/p>\n Jim is a\u00a0Hammond-Suzuki<\/a>\u00a0endorsed artist and played the\u00a0Hammond XK-3<\/a>\u00a0with the full\u00a0XK System<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Leslie 3300<\/a>\u00a0on most organissimo gigs up until 2012. He now uses the Hammond SK2<\/a>\u00a0with organissimo. For his shows with Janiva Magness, Jim is using the\u00a0Hammond SK1<\/a>. After years of lugging around a real B3, Jim applauds the new Hammond organs not only as back-savers, but extremely flexable instruments that still retain the classic Hammond tonewheel sound.<\/p>\n Jim is also endorsed by\u00a0Casio<\/a>\u00a0and uses their wonderful line of\u00a0Privia digital pianos<\/a>\u00a0on the road with Janiva and organissimo, as well as in his home studio.<\/p>\n And Jim is endorsed by\u00a0Neo Instruments<\/a>, makers of the Ventilator rotary speaker simulator.
