Here&#8217;s a full-length song from the upcoming CD.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pw1sOXI_tD0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For this recording in my humble home studio, I&#8217;m using my beloved 1954 Hammond C2 through a 1956 Leslie 21H. The Leslie is miked with a pair of heavily modified TNC\u00a0ACM-6082 tube condensers in a Blumlein pair on top and an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electrovoice.com\/product.php?id=91\">Electro-Voice RE20<\/a> on the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>One thing yet to finish is a version of <em>Within You Without You<\/em>. In preparing for this CD, I asked my elder sister (who is responsible for a lot of my musical tastes) for\u00a0her favorite Beatles song and she answered with that psychedelic, classical Indian inspired cut from the seminal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Sgt-Peppers-Lonely-Hearts-Club\/dp\/B01929I77M\">Sgt Pepper&#8217;s<\/a> album. I&#8217;ve decided to do something a little different with it, however, instead of a straight organ trio live studio performance.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_637\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jimalfredson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Modular.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-637\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-637\" src=\"http:\/\/jimalfredson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Modular-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"synthesizers.com modular\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"http:\/\/jimalfredson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Modular-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/jimalfredson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Modular-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/jimalfredson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Modular-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-637\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">synthesizers.com modular<\/p><\/div>\n<p>First I had drummer Randy Marsh play the iconic drum groove from <em>Tomorrow Never Knows<\/em> off the Beatles&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Revolver-Beatles\/dp\/B01929I1V4\/\">Revolver<\/a> album. I absolutely adored this album as a kid and listened to it over and over again. Next\u00a0I looped an 8 bar snippet from Randy&#8217;s performance to create a hypnotic almost electronic drum track. Next I will craft a tambura-esque patch\u00a0on the mighty <a href=\"http:\/\/synthesizers.com\/\">synthesizers.com<\/a> modular as the drone. Then I will play the melody on organ, but with a surprise twist (to be revealed later). And finally I&#8217;ll bring Larry in to add some guitar pyrotechnics over the top.
